Sew Fit was started in 1994 when Maryanne Mason had the need for multiple swimming costumes for her children who were doing swimming lessons, school swimming and had a pool at home. The first costumes were made for their swimming lessons and when seen by friends they requested her to make them for there children. Very quickly things grew and a school noticed her swimwear and requested school costumes. The following year her 1 daughter started ballet and she made her first leotard. Within the first year after making her first item she got to the point where she had to choose between nursing or manufacturing swimwear. The business continued to grow and the first seamstress was hired to help. Her children all stepped in to help at different points. Today the business is owned and run by her Daughter Kirsty Steyn.
